This creamy, warm beverage will make you feel as if you’re doing something good for yourself. During the summer, you can easily transform this latte into a cold refreshing drink. Instead of hot milk, combine the Matcha paste with cold milk and ice. Because matcha powder can settle to the bottom of your cup or glass, stir your latte occasionally.
- 1 teaspoon Matcha powder
- 3 tablespoons hot water
- 1-2 teaspoon honey
- 150ml skimmed milk (or soy milk)
- pinch of nutmeg, to serve
Sift the Matcha powder into a mixing bowl. Stir in the water and honey with a whisk until you have a smooth green paste. Warm the milk in a separate pot and froth it with an electric milk whisk. If you have an espresso machine, use it to steam the milk until it is hot and frothy. Pour the hot milk over the green paste and mix well. Pour the latte into your preferred cup or glass and top with froth. Sprinkle with nutmeg and green tea powder to taste.
Matcha is a finely ground, powdered, high-quality green tea that is served during the Japanese tea ceremony. Matcha is very nutritious, with a high level of antioxidants, and the health benefits of matcha tea far outweigh the benefits of regular green tea.
